Healthcare services provided by our pharmacist, Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy.

Our pharmacist is a valuable member of your healthcare team. Working alongside the other healthcare professionals, our pharmacist helps ensure you get the best care possible. In addition to being a licensed pharmacist in Manitoba, Dr. Lisa has also completed her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Certification in Travel Health, and additional training in palliative care.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, is licensed to provide the following health-care services:

Prescribe non-prescription or over-the-counter medications and medical devices such as diabetic supplies and metered-dose inhaler-spacer devices.

Talking to our pharmacist when you need a non-prescription drug helps you to select the medication that is best for you. It also helps you to avoid harmful effects caused by any drug interactions or the worsening of your medical conditions.

We can also provide you with a particular brand of the medication that you prefer.

If you or your prescriber have a preference for a particular brand of the drug you are taking, our pharmacist can ensure that you get it by ordering a “no substitution” of the medication. Note that your preferred brand may not be one that your drug insurance plan covers.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, can administer many drugs by injection.

Our pharmacist has completed additional training and is authorized by the College to provide injections of drugs such as vaccines and vitamin B12. Contact us to book your appointment.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, is fully authorized to prescribe medications for self-limiting conditions.

Our pharmacist has completed additional training and is authorized by the College to prescribe many medications to treat certain self-limiting conditions. Examples of these conditions include dermatitis, itchy skin, and eczema; fungal infections of the skin, scalp, and mouth; hemorrhoids; mouth ulcers; nausea and vomiting during pregnancy; allergy symptoms (runny nose); acne and, for smoking cessation.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, will also order lab tests for you.

Our pharmacist has completed additional training and is authorized by the College to order certain lab tests to help monitor how well your medication is working. In collaboration with your prescriber, these lab tests will help our pharmacist ensure you to get the most benefit from your medication therapy.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, will also issue a continued care prescription.

Working with your usual prescriber, our pharmacist can issue a prescription to extend the medication you need to treat a chronic condition when your usual prescriber is unavailable. Note this does not apply to narcotic and other controlled drugs.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, is skilled at interpreting your self-administered automated tests

Our pharmacist can help you understand the results you receive when you perform a self-test for such things as blood glucose, blood pressure, or cholesterol levels.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, can also adapt a prescription that is not quite suitable for your needs.

Working with you and your prescriber, our pharmacist can adapt a prescription by altering the dosage strength, formulation, or regimen of the drug prescribed to more closely meet your needs.

Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, has additional training to also prescribe medications for uncomplicated, recurring bladder infection.

Our pharmacist has completed additional training to receive authorization from the College to prescribe medications to treat uncomplicated, recurring bladder infections for non-pregnant women.

Most non-pregnant patients with typical signs and symptoms of uncomplicated, recurring bladder infections may be prescribed treatment by our pharmacist; however, under certain conditions, our pharmacist must refer you to another healthcare provider such as your primary care doctor or nurse practitioner. For example, if you are under the age of 16, reside in a long term-care home, or have another condition or circumstance that needs more specialized care.

The best thing you can do is talk with our pharmacist about your condition and work on a care plan that is right for you.

As a Certified Travel Health expert, Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, will help you plan a safe trip and advise in the appropriate protection from preventable illnesses, like: Yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, malaria, Hepatitis A & B, polio, Traveler’s diarrhea, and typhoid.

In addition to all the above, Dr. Lisa, Doctor of Pharmacy, also meets regularly with patients to have in-depth discussions about specific health concerns, like: trouble concentrating, insomnia, anxiety, depression, pain, heart disease, menopause, PMS, asthma, dizziness, IBS, cancer, stroke, and many others.
